Tropicana Sports Book to go live in New Jersey this week

Tropicana's long-awaited William Hill powered sports book is to go live this week.

The long-awaited Tropicana sports book is set to go live this week - further expanding the NJ sports betting scene.

Powered by William Hill, the new sports betting product will be able to capitalize on the ongoing NFL, NBA and NHL season.

Tropicana Resorts is set to be one of the last casinos in the Garden State to open their own sports book. What's interesting is that they were actually one of the first brands to launch an NJ online casino.

It is believed that new owners, Eldorado Resorts, made the sports book one of their first priorities upon taking over the Trop.

Steve Callender, the Tropicana's General Manager, hinted about the as yet undisclosed layout of the facility. He stated:

“A brand new venue is being created to host sports betting in the North Tower Casino, with kiosks located throughout the property. We are excited to share more details about Tropicana Atlantic City’s sports book in the coming weeks.”

Tom Reeg, president and chief financial officer of Eldorado, made several comments that showed how keen Eldorado was to outfit their new property with sports betting capabilities. Speaking about the sports book he commented:

“That’s going to draw customers that otherwise were never going to see your property and it’s the kind of customers that you want — they sit in your sportsbook and they make bets and they drink with their friends and they wander onto the casino floor and they stay in your hotels and they eat in your restaurants and it costs you nothing to get them into the property.”

Eldorado Resorts might be keen for the sports book - but it seems the Gamesys powered online casino is a point of contention. The new owners first act was to allegedly cull Tropicana's entire online casino team in a matter of hours.
