Parx sports betting could be launching soon 🏈

Parx Casino in Pennsylvania is the second casino to apply for a sports betting license.

Parx sports betting could soon become a reality in Pennsylvania.

The popular land-based PA casino has applied for a sports betting license, making them only the second casino to apply for a sports betting license in the state.

Penn National and their Hollywood Casino were the first PA casino to lobby for a license.

In a 16 page petition, Parx owners Greenwood Gaming & Entertainment urged PA regulators to consider their application as soon as possible. This is due to the upcoming football season, which would attract a significant amount of business. Quoting from the petition:

Finally, GGE respectfully urges the Board to review this Petition and grant its Certificate expeditiously so as to enable GGE to commence sports wagering in a timeframe that enables it to capture as much of the popular fall sports seasons and events as possible.

Penn National have also indicated a keen interest in launching their sports product in tandem with the start of the football season.

PA casino regulators are scheduled to meet in October - and the meeting could shed some light on their plans for sportsbook within the state. It also may reveal the board's plan for PA online casinos that are scheduled to launch at the end of 2018.

Since the PASPA law was struck down by the Supreme Court back in May, multiple states have shown an interest in offering sports betting to patrons. New Jersey casinos were among the first to capitalize: SugarHouse recently released a sportsbook integrated with their NJ online casino.
